So that Iron Man Movie...
That new Iron Man movie is pretty good! My coworkers and I saw it during lunch (although not for free, but we did go to the Ziegfeld, which was nice).

I didn't know anything about Iron Man at all, and I don't normally like super hero stuff, but I found the film quite enjoyable. Things which are very clichéd in other Hollywood movies were believable in Iron Man.

Is it... the best comic book movie adaptation ever?! It might be, since it was so consistently good. The ending is especially succinct. Everyone's acting performances are dead-on!

In the yaoi doujin of the film I think it will be Tony Stark/Jim Rhodes... and there are more pairings to be had!

Plus the robot arms in the film were like Scutters in Red Dwarf!

Yeah, I was very impressed. It actually met my high expectations and is certainly one of the best adaptations...if not the best.

Did you stay through the end credits?

Scutters, you say? Don't make me want to watch this movie!! o_o

(actually, my GF finds superhero movies deplorable, I don't think she'd be up for this, no matter what!)

It was super good! It's because the makers weren't all "well, it's a two-dimensional superhero, let's give him a personality!" and they didn't create all the drama and whining. This superhero is smart and has super cool gadgets!

He also appeals to me becuase he's a self-made superhero. None of that "oh, a spider bit me" or "I'm an orphan from another planet." Yay, Iron Man!

Robert Downey Jr. did a nice turn portraying Stark as a utter, complete ba£%&rd when he doesn't care about people and a nice, complete ba£%&rd when he returns from Afghanistan. I do think that Jim Rhodes was not left enough scenes after editing. Paltrow does come into her own AFTER the start of the third act so we don't really get how she should be acting around Stark. Maybe we need to see her interact with Happy Hogan some more. I thought that Obadiah Stane was handled brilliantly by both Favreau and Jeff Bridges.

Please nobody tell what the scene was after the credits started rolling! I got up before the credits were rolling to go and pee. My brothers told me there was something on after they started and I've said I don't want to know. I'll see it when I get the blu ray.

Growing up, Iron Man was always one of my favorite super heroes, so I was more than pleased to see him treated so well.

It's a tricky thing, this cross-medium adaptation, and I hope that future superhero filmmakers take note of what Iron Man managed to do.

There are so many cross-media adaptations nowadays... It's tricky but apparently very popular - or profitable? The Kingdom Hearts manga is in the top five most popular in the U.S., you know?
